Special Forces and Green Berets in Vietnam

Green Berets played a significant role in the Vietnam War. They were trained for guerilla warfare, unconventional warfare and special operations. The name Green Beret stems from the Green Beret headgear that is worn during battle. They are known as the quiet professionals in the army. Members of the Green Beret are known to have exceptional skills in what they are trained to do.
They were created in the 1950s with the mission of organizing guerilla forces behind enemy lines. In the 1960s, President John F. Kennedy poured many resources into the program and also gave them their Green Berets. The creation of these Special Forces was seen as a solution to the increasing problem of Communist sponsored “wars of liberation”.
